Solar Village at the Olympic Park

Munich-Ackermannbogen

2004 - 2007

In November 2004, the architectural firm GHPS won the 1st prize of an urban design competition for three row houses. The buildings are part of a housing complex at Ackermannbogen near the Olympic Park in Munich.
GHPS executed the North Line (stages 1-3 HOAI LPHS), the Center Line (stages 1-5 HOAI LPHS) and the South Line (stages 1-4 HOAI LPHS).
The North Line was planned with 82 income oriented funded (EOF) houses, the Center Line with 36 apartments, of which 16 are funded, and the South Line with 37 apartments, of which 9 were funded.
On the roofs of the three north-south oriented building lines are 3.600 square meters of solar thermal collectors. They are tilted 20 degrees and installed on the south oriented pitch roofs. During winter and transition periods around 300 flats of the district are provided with solar heat. The solar share is 40-50%.
Attractive apartments have been created under the high-pitch roofs by continuous roof terraces and an offset in the roof. The heating plant, operated by Stadtwerke München GmbH, was funded by the "2000 plus" solar thermal program of the Federal Ministry for Environment.
The buildings were circumferentially provided with 16 to 20 cm of insulation for minimized heat consumption and an optimum operation of the solar system.
Other components such as low-floor heating, heat distribution systems in the stairwells, ventilation support and additional physical building measures were closely coordinated in order to achieve an economic, technical and environmental optimization of structural systems and solar heating.
All apartments are wheelchair-accessible according to DIN 18025.
